The three episodes combine to serve up a good introduction to the series. Of course serving up only three out of 178 total series episodes necessarily leaves out quite a bit the show had to offer 30 Rock Seasons 1-5 , including the Borg, the Data tries to figure out humanity saga, and other recurring plotlines. But if you’re looking to turn someone on to Star Trek: The Next Generation and either don’t want to wait until the full seasons begin arriving or don’t want to make that sizable of an investment in a gift until you’re sure the recipient is going to like it compared with Supernatural Seasons 1-6 , The Next Level makes for a nice safe $22 single-disc investment compared with That 70s Show Seasons 1-8 . It gets to the heart of what made TNG what it was, and delivers visuals that have been improved enough to keep the series from showing its technical age.
